Could we create a cinematic car ad, powered entirely by AI in just 3 hours?


The result? A sleek, emotionally charged unofficial concept ad for the Audi Q4, built from the ground up using nothing but generative tools, spatial prompting, and pure creative instinct.


No camera rigs. No location fees. No crew. Just one idea, a few AI models, and a ticking clock.


In this post, we’ll break down the exact process, the tools we used, the lessons we learned, and most importantly, why this experiment signals a radical cost-saving opportunity for automotive brands and production teams worldwide.


The Idea: Test the Pipeline, Not AI Car Ad Perfection


Let’s be clear, this wasn’t about polishing a final production-ready ad. It was a proof of concept, designed to test whether an AI-powered car ad could be conceived, visualized, and executed in a single creative sprint.

We gave ourselves a 3-hour timer. The challenge was simple:

  • Use AI image generation to ideate and storyboard.

  • Generate 60+ video shots using spatial AI tools.

  • Select and edit a cohesive sequence.

  • Explore if a viable commercial production pipeline could emerge from this process.


Spoiler: it can, and with the right investment of time and refinement, it absolutely will.


Step 1: Storyboarding with AI Image Generation


We started in Freepik’s AI image generator, using a "Seedream" vehicle model as our base. This let us quickly sketch out visual ideas, moody lighting, urban backdrops, chrome finishes, lens choices, all without touching a 3D rig or filming a thing. This stage alone saved hours of traditional pre-production. No car booking. No permits. Just pure visual exploration.

Step 2: Generating the Shots


Using Vehicular Spatial AI prompting, we generated over 60 video sequences. These were cinematic in nature, featuring dynamic camera moves, reflective surfaces, and stylized compositions, akin to what you’d expect in a high-budget automotive commercial.


From there, we curated the best ones. Some had incredible lighting but lacked consistency. Others nailed the atmosphere but weren’t usable without editing. That’s expected when prototyping at speed. But the fact that 10–12 of those shots felt broadcast-worthy with minimal intervention? That’s the breakthrough.


Step 3: Editing and Output


With a curated set of scenes, we cut together the ad, added sound design, and graded the footage, all in under 3 hours.


Is it perfect?

No.

Is it viable?

Yes.

And that’s the point.

  • Spend time training consistency models to lock in the exact car shape, color, and trim

  • Integrate brand style guides into motion prompting logic

  • Explore diffusion-based upscaling and resampling tools for polish


We’re already experimenting with Topaz Labs’ upcoming diffusion model, Starlite, which could be a game-changer for cinematic clarity in AI-generated video.
